Harness Resylica® Technology for advanced head louse control, engineered to tackle rapid transmission, persistent nits, recurring infestations, and treatment challenges with targeted efficacy, reliable performance, and lasting protection.
Human head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) are tiny, wingless, blood-feeding ectoparasites that live exclusively on the human scalp and hair. They are one of the most common parasitic infestations worldwide, particularly among school-aged children, although individuals of all ages can be affected.
Head lice survive by feeding several times a day on human blood and spend their entire life cycle on the host. Female lice firmly attach their eggs (nits) to the hair shaft close to the scalp, where the warmth and humidity provide ideal conditions for development. Because head lice spread primarily through direct head-to-head contact, infestations can rapidly circulate within households, schools, childcare centres, camps, and other close-contact environments.
The global lice treatment market was valued at approximately USD 1.12 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 2.10 billion by 2035, reflecting steady expansion at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.9% from 2025 to 2035. This growth is driven by the persistent global prevalence of head lice, rising awareness and diagnosis rates, increasing demand for safer and resistance-management formulations, and continuous product innovation across pharmaceutical and consumer health segments.
Fleas are more than just a nuisance they can significantly affect the health and well-being of both pets and their owners. Repeated flea bites cause intense itching, irritation, scratching, hair loss, skin inflammation, and discomfort. Sensitive dogs may develop Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), an allergic reaction to flea saliva that results in severe itching and skin lesions. Heavy infestations can also lead to anaemia, particularly in puppies, elderly dogs, or debilitated animals. In addition, fleas are capable of transmitting certain pathogens and can serve as intermediate hosts for tapeworms, making effective flea control an essential part of pet health management.
Head lice have become increasingly difficult to control because many populations have developed resistance to commonly used chemical pediculicides. As a result, conventional treatments may not always achieve satisfactory control, particularly when products rely on neurotoxic mechanisms.
Furthermore, adult lice move quickly through the hair, making complete coverage difficult if formulations do not spread efficiently over the hair and scalp. These challenges highlight the importance of advanced formulation technologies that improve coverage and provide an alternative physical mode of action.
Resylica® Technology controls head lice through a novel physical mode of action designed to act on the insect’s respiratory system. When a droplet of Resylica® comes into contact with a head louse, the formulation interacts with the insect’s exoskeleton and glides across its external surface toward the spiracles, the microscopic respiratory openings located along the body.
Upon reaching the spiracles, the formulation enters the louse’s respiratory system and disrupts normal respiratory function. As the tracheal system becomes affected, normal airflow and oxygen exchange are disrupted, resulting in respiratory distress, loss of mobility, and ultimately mortality.
This differentiated physical mode of action provides rapid action following direct contact with susceptible head lice. Unlike conventional insecticides that primarily rely on specific biochemical target sites, Resylica® Technology offers an alternative approach to head-lice control through a physical mechanism.
Resylica® can be incorporated into targeted head-lice treatment strategies, supporting direct contact with lice located close to the scalp and among the hair. This contact-based approach can help address susceptible lice present in areas where they commonly remain attached and concealed within the hair.
Acts through a physical mechanism that rapidly disrupts respiration following direct contact with head lice.
The formulation rapidly enters the spiracles, floods the respiratory system, and interrupts normal breathing, resulting in suffocation, physiological shock, and death.
Forms a thin, continuous film that spreads evenly over hair shafts and the scalp, improving overall treatment coverage.
The superior surface properties increase the likelihood of contact with lice concealed close to the scalp and within dense hair.
Designed to deliver effective coverage and rapid physical action as part of a complete head lice control programme.
Because it acts through a physical mode of action, Resylica® Technology provides an alternative approach to products that rely solely on conventional chemical insecticides.
